I had the chance to look at the Sony Alpha NEX-C3 16 MP Compact Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera Kit with 18-55mm Zoom Lens (Black) and what first impressed me was the size. This is the smallest digital slr I’ve seen. It packs quite a punch for an inexpensive digital camera. Boasting 16 mega pixels, interchangeable lens, tilting 3 inch display, 720p video,3D panoramic shots, this digital camera has alot to offer someone looking for their first digital slr.
The movie does share some similarities to Kick Ass for sure, but it does enough to make itself different, and I liked it. Rainn Wilson stars as Frank, a wuss who happens to be married to Liv Tyler (how did THAT happen? oh wait, its a movie!!)
Liv’s character is addicted to drugs, and willingly goes with bad drug dealer Kevin Bacon. Frank loses control and becomes the Crimson Bolt. After getting his ass kicked, he brings along a big wrench and starts beating the bad guys.(quite graphically). Maybe he went a little too far with some of the people he attacked, but it was amusing to watch. He teams up with Libby(Ellen Page) who becomes his sidekick as they prepare to take down the drug dealing wife stealer.
This movie is NOT for children! It has intense violence, and is not intended for those under 14.
This is the smallest digital slr camera I have ever seen, as it can fit comfortably in one hand, making it easy to carry. It comes with a nice variety of features for such a low price point, including built-in flash,3 inch touch screen LCD screen and more!
Features:
12 Megapixels
1080i video
simple to use
fast processor
Pros: Incredible small, easy to use, good picture quality
Soul Surfer (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) is an inspiring movie based on a true story from a few years back. Bethany Hamilton is a teenage girl living in Hawaii whose life is to surf. During an outing, she has her arm bitten off by a shark. She survives and the story is around her and her family as she attempts to still be able to compete in surfing. This is a nice family movie that everyone will enjoy.
Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid play her parents. The scenery is fabulous, and the story really is inspirational. I did not enjoy the product placement. SPAM is no-one’s favourite food! Soul Surfer (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo) contains nice extras such as deleted scenes, and 2 documentaries about Bethany’s ordeal, and she talks about professional surfing.
Stake Land [Blu-ray] is a vampire movie that actually works very well. With the recent flood of vampire movies and tv shows, it is hard to stand apart from the crowd.Stake Land [Blu-ray] manages to do this very well.
America has fallen due to a vampire infestation, and humanity is surviving by a rope. A teenage boy runs into a vampire killer who takes him along and teaches him how to stay alive by killing the vampires. This is not a typical horror movie. It is more suspense, but it does certainly have its violent moments. (and very dark ones at that!)
Shot on a very low budget, it looks great, has characters you care about. You start rooting for them to make it to Canada, and safety, if they can survive the vampires and humans who have become cannibals. Stake Land [Blu-ray] is a worthy addition to your collection if you like a good vampire movie, that is NOT Twilight.
Here is my video review:
Christopher’s Review: 8/10 A great, dark, gritty vampire movie that really works!
If you are looking for a game completely different and want a truly unique playing experience, I highly recommend Catherine. For the PS3 here Catherine and for the Xbox 360 here CatherineThis rated M for mature anime game offers gameplay and a story I can guarantee you have not seen before. You play as Vincent, a computer techie who has a longterm girlfriend named Katherine. After a night of heavy drinking, he meets this new girl named Catherine..with a C….They spend the night together, and thats when the game takes off. Vincent is very troubled with his cheating, and Catherine becoming involved in his life. You need to pay attention to the story, as the gameplay elements will ask you about what is happening in the game. The puzzles are hard, and get much harder the further you go. If puzzle games are not your thing, do not buy this game!
The story really pulls you in, and you actually do care what happens to Vincent, Catherine, and Katherine. I recommend this to anyone tired of first person shooters, and looking for a real unique game.
Limitless (Unrated Extended Cut) [Blu-ray + Digital Copy] is another vehicle for rising star Bradley Cooper and as a movie, this one works very well. Cooper plays a struggling writer who is given a new experimantal drug to improve his writing. He soon realizes that the drug has worked better than intended, and he makes it rich in the stock market. He attracts the wrong kind of attention with people who want their hands on the drug, Cooper must avoid being caught by the bad guys and the police. Fast paced, and allowing Cooper to show off his acting skills, this is a very good movie that both men and women would enjoy. Men will appreciate the action, while the women will appreciate Bradley Cooper.
Source Code [Blu-ray] is a movie that I admit I had no idea even played in the theaters. I’m glad I did not miss it on blu ray. This is not your typical movie. Jake Gyllenhaal plays a man who is forced to re-live 8 minutes before a train bombing kills everyone onboard, including himself. He must find the bomb, and whoever planted it to save future terrorist attacks. I won’t give away too much. It is very sharply written, inspired perhaps by the movie Inception. This is not a great date movie, but it is well worth watching.
